In Tibetan Buddhism, “Sherab” (ཤེས་རབ་), also known as “Prajñā” in Sanskrit, refers to wisdom, specifically transcendent wisdom. It is the understanding of the true nature of reality, beyond ordinary perception and conceptualization. Sherab involves seeing the world without attachment, delusion, or duality, recognizing the emptiness (Śūnyatā) of all phenomena. This wisdom is one of the key aspects of the path to enlightenment, along with compassion (karuṇā). It allows practitioners to overcome ignorance, the root cause of suffering, and achieve a direct realization of the nature of existence, leading to ultimate liberation (nirvana).
