The Two Accumulations (14×17 in.)

$165.00

This piece features the Tibetan words Sonam and Sherab arranged in a circle. These words translate to “merit” and “wisdom” respectively which constitute “the two accumulations”.

In Tibetan Buddhism, the two accumulations are essential for achieving enlightenment. The accumulation of merit arises from virtuous actions, generosity, ethical conduct, and compassionate deeds, which purify negative karma and create favorable conditions for spiritual progress. The accumulation of wisdom comes from deep meditation, study, and realization of emptiness (*shunyata*), leading to direct insight into the nature of reality. Both accumulations are interdependent: merit supports wisdom by stabilizing the mind, while wisdom perfects merit by ensuring actions are free from ego-clinging. Together, they culminate in Buddhahood, benefiting both self and others.

This piece is handwritten using a calligraphy pen. It’s made to order and includes artist’s seal.
